Pinkham and Smith 14" Bi-Quality F4.5
Sold by
Dagor77 to Photo-paapsi, US $3,501.00

Not just a nice and handsome lens, this one comes WITH the ORIGINAL CAP and flange!! A Legendary lens the Bi-Quality is one of the most sought after lenses for the portraitist/pictorialist...but then you already knew that since its you who have been driving the price of these things up like crazy. This one is in very nice shape with light signs of use and big bright glass.

The glass is uncoated so shadows are full and rich, the iris could cut cigar stubbs its so perfect and round. I can see just a couple of very fine cleaning wisps and they are small ones at that...an amazing coincidence of preservation given such a large field of glass for maladies to perform on. The lens stands a bit over 5" tall and the flange OD is also a hair over 5" so Deardorff use is indeed possible, actual mount hole need only be 4" across.

18cm '180mm' f2.7 ERNEMANN ERNOSTAR

18cm '180mm' f2.7 ERNEMANN ERNOSTAR
by Lens & Repro

The HOLY GRAIL of "Speed" lenses. 18cm (180mm) f2.7 Ernemann Ernostar in barrel (no shutter) for 4x5.

Ernemann had its own lens design and manufacturing divisions within the company but relied heavily on the leading lens designers of C.P. Goerz and Carl Zeiss Jena which had the major portion of the market. However, Ernemann employed young designer, Ludwig Bertele, who would revolutionize the photographic industry with his high speed Ernostar lens. He later contributed the Sonnar and Biogon families of lenses to Zeiss Ikon.

The ideal way to use this would be on Sinar with Sinar shutter, or on a Speed Graphic w/focal plane shutter, or Graflex SLR (but in this configuration, it only focuses close --top of head to first button or closer), or on any view camera with either packard shutter or lens cap.
The lens is in very good condition, the glass is excellent for its age. It is of course, uncoated. We see maybe one every five years.

Ernostars are what all the other Pentac"s, Aero's, etc strive to be, but only the original has the incredible sharpness, & softness, fabulous out of focus areas, and long tonal scales.

Leica MP, Hermes Edition

Leica MP, Hermes Edition
...
This year, Leica Camera are launching a series of exclusive yearly edition models. The renowned French company Hermès is the partner for the initial edition.Specifically, it is a LEICA MP with silver chrome finish, lined with a fine Barenia calf leather which was delivered by Hermès. This Barenia leather is characterized by a very fine and natural surface structure. The leather’s treatment results in its unique “feel”. In order to achieve the best possible quality it is tanned in a very lengthy process that is repeatedly interrupted to allow the material to ‘come to rest’. The leather is a perfect match for the camera’s finish with its natural brown color. Around the edges, it is adorned by a fine, hand-made filet.

Also part of the yearly edition is a LEICA SUMMICRON-M 35mm f/2 ASPH. in silver chrome finish and a hand-made carrying strap, again in Barenia calf leather. The lens hood as well as the lens front and rear caps and the camera body cap are all made of solid, chrome-plated brass. Details such as the lens’ silver chrome finger grip and the engraved special numbers from 001/500 to 500/500 conclude the lens’ and camera’s deviations from the serial models. The cooperation with Hermès is indicated by a finely embossed “Hermès Paris – Made in France” on the back of the strap. “With this year’s edition we are combining Hermès’ savoir-faire in leather craftsmanship and Leica’s capabilities in the design of cameras and lenses.” explains Stefan Daniel, the head of Leica Camera AG’s System Cameras Division, and continues by pointing out that the partnership between Hermès and Leica is based on the belief in the same values of precision craftsmanship, love of details and longevity.
